This move of Microsoft is to get back its lost supremacy in this segment to Google. Today Google is the top player in search and web browser categories with its Chrome browser. After getting a new laptop with Windows 11, I decided to give a try to the Mircosoft browser called Edge and for the last 10 days I am using it. While using Microsoft Edge, I came across its reward programs for Indian users.
I enrolled in a similar reward program run by Brave Browser, they were paying webmasters with crypto coins when someone use their website on the Brave Browser. Plus there were also rewards for using Brave Browser. In this program, I earned some crypto coins but I never redeemed them, though many people earned a few thousand rupees from the Brave reward program. Compared to the Brave browser reward program, I found the Microsft Edge (Bing) reward program more rewarding and easy. In this program, Microsoft Edge and Bing users accumulate reward points for using the Edge browser and Bing search.
After accumulating enough reward points, users can redeem these points for Amazon or Flipkart or Cleartrip vouchers. They do get some other options like paying a charity or getting Gift Cards for some popular games like League of Legends etc. For getting a Rs 500 Gift card from Flipkart or Amazon or Cleartrip users need 8150 points. Though, the rewards are not very big you at least get something for using a web browser and making searches online. Many users have received consistent rewards from the Microsoft reward program. The good point of this reward program like the Brave rewards is that users are not required to do anything special. They simply need to work on their computer while using Microsoft programs and in the background, they will keep on accumulating reward points.
In my view, a user can get Rs 1000 to Rs 5000 rewards from this program. This program has two levels and you reach the level two when you earn 500 reward points. In level two, you have up to 5 times more options to earn rewards and also get 10% saving on the reward redemption. There is a big fight to capture the market of web browsers and search engines because it can increase the revenue of any company many times. So far Google is No. 1 in this segment and it has snatched this place from Microsft in the web browser segment. So far, I have found the Microsft Edge browser satisfactory and will try it for some more time.
