Is it good to destroy the Indian social system in which we live?

Today’s India is going through many changes and social change is one of them. We are seeing many demands of abolishing old customs and traditions and lots of people are supporting these demands. Here I will not raise an individual issue but take everything in whole. I do support changing the old traditions and customs which are against particular caste or gender. However, I do want to caution about depleting the social system in which we have survived so far successfully.

We human beings are social creatures and we do well when we will in a society. The primary task of all societies is to support its people and work for their development. It is necessary to break the age old, outdated customs, but it is also important to keep the traditions and customs which have tied us together so far. It is very difficult for any individual to survive so he needs a good society, but present culture is putting emphases on individual lifestyle irrespective of the culture from which they are coming.

Due to this reason, we are seeing decreases in social bonding among people and millions of people finding themselves alone in the difficult times. Many people look it down to follow the old traditions and cultures because they feel that these are symbols of backwardness. Hence, we see a traditional Indian social system dying slowly with new modern cultures emerging. We always look at the dark side of the old traditions and cultures, but forget to see their beauty and how beautifully they passed love and good values from one generation to another.

Earlier, people were dumb, but they have a social structure to support them, now people are smart but they are alone. I not against modern culture, but I want that we should retain our old values too, so that our next generation always know what they are.
