In the last post, I discussed my concerns that how we are going to lose our beautiful earth. One of the major reasons behind this concern is increasing pollution on the earth. We all know the importance of a clean environment but we have polluted everything on the earth from drinking water to the air and land. One modern creation of man which was once considered a boom for mankind is responsible for major pollution on the earth. This modern creation is plastic, with the advent of plastic our lives have become very easy and comfortable. However, it is becoming the main reason behind the increasing pollution on the earth. Today, we can find the use of plastic in every part of our daily life, and it's not easy to imagine a life without plastic.
However, there is a big problem associated with the use of plastic, and it takes millions of years to decay. Therefore, we see plastic polluting everything on the earth and it has even reached far away isolated places where no person lives with the sea current. Lots of land and sea animals die because of this plastic waste and we are seeing an increase in plastic waste because of the increase in materials made of plastic. Today, the time has come when we should start looking for alternatives so that we can save our earth from plastic pollution and decrease its negative impact on the environment.
To solve this problem, we all need to take steps and stop using plastic products and instead start using biodegradable alternatives. I have made one change from last month with the use of a bamboo toothbrush. I found the bamboo toothbrush very comfortable and fine to use so I have decided to not use again toothbrushes made of plastic.
My step may look very small to many people but I believe that we all need to start taking such small steps to solve the problem of ever-increasing plastic waste. We need to encourage such inventors who offer plastic alternatives to us. Bamboo-based products are becoming very famous and one such product is bamboo toothbrushes. This is my first bamboo-based product and in the future, I may shift to more products based on bamboo or other biodegradable alternatives.
I am currently using Beco brand charcoal-activated bamboo toothbrush. I am using this toothbrush for more than a month and it looks like it will last for more than three months which is enough time to change a brush. The main handle of this brush is made of strong bamboo while the bristles are made of plastic induced with charcoal. At this time, we don't have an alternative for plastic bristles but at least we can avoid plastic handles.
I hope that more people will start using products that are alternatives to plastic and we can reduce plastic waste considerably.
