Dear all e-mail users, I want to request you remain alert while using your email accounts and avoid responding to or accepting rewards or money-sharing schemes offered in your mailbox. In recent times, a number of Indians have become victims of these frauds due to their ignorance and somewhat greed. Numbers of criminal organisations mainly settled in poor African countries are behind these frauds. Recently, RBI has also issued a security alert in this matter. However, still, large numbers of people are not aware of these kinds of frauds and become a victim of them. Most of the victims receive emails 1) telling them that they have won a lottery with an automatic email draw 2) a person wants to share some fortune with you 3) a widow needs your help for getting money 4) a bank employee of a foreign bank needs your assistance in money transfer and a number of other new and realistic methods created on the daily basis. The target of these mails is mostly new online users who have no knowledge about these kinds of frauds. It is advisable for people to not share their personal information like name, address, passport details, account number/password or send any kind of money.
For avoiding such frauds-
1) Do not provide your personal email address to an unknown person or submit it to unreliable websites
2) Check email for addresses for extensions like @reply.ebay.com, @123.ebay.com etc in the mail because actual mail will always have @ebay.com and no variation.
3) Always remember that there is nothing free in this world and especially in the online world.
4) Always use an email service provider with good spam and fraud control.
5) Always keep updated about new threats and never respond to emails from an unknown origin.
