Journalism has come a long age in India. It has seen long changes in India culture and society. Today with the entry of many new news channels and print media, its concept are changing very fast. Toady this is a hot carrier option for the many youth of India. Newer colleges are coming up every year to offer the journalism courses. Twenty years back there were very few selected individuals, who have the courage to enter into journalism.

Rewards in term of money were not very high, but the risks associated were present in abundance. Corruption was at its peak. Media was mostly influenced by the political parties. More over the number of print media was very less and TV was in its initial stages. Therefore choosing a carrier in journalism at that time requires lot of guts. That’s why we are seeing these journalists today as the Icons in their field.

However, in recent years there are significant changes which are seen in every thing related to journalism. This has happened mainly due to two reasons, first due to the increasing influence of IT and seconds due to the emergence of cable TV in India. IT has played a big role in it.

Further competition in market forced reduction in the prices drastically.Now it is easy for people of India to interact with other people of the world and share their views. News has started circulating very fast. More and more information have now become accessible to common man. In India, before the emergence of cable TV, there were only one or two channels.

However the cable TV concept has revolutionized the whole Indian TV industry. New private TV channel have started emerging. With boundaries broken by the digital media, the need for news at fast speed has given birth to news channels. Also the success of some channels is making others to come in it. These news channels are providing the big opportunity to many Indian journalists and are helping in making the Indian journalism stronger.

Print media has also seen a substantial growth in last few years. With the increasing education slandered, more demand for quality work has emerged. Indian journalists are getting more opportunity due to this information demand. Indian journalists who are proficient in English are getting lot of readers in the Western countries. Internet is making new world jobs accessible to Indian journalists. With this we are going to witness a new era in Indian journalism.
