From the last few days, I was seeing a trend in social media about a Gang Rape in the Dharmshala city of Hiamchal Pradesh. In the last three days, the numbers of such posts increased many times with few pages created on Facebook to support the rape victim. As per the post and information shared on the social media, "A Dharmsala college girl was gang raped and her condition is very critical. It was further circulated that all culprits of rape are from rich and influential families; and one of them is a relative of a ruling party minister." Initially, I also thought that this incidence is real and there is a try to stop justice to a poor girl because it is promoted in such a way. In India, VIP culture is very common and we can find many so called VIPs around us. Recently, during my short drive of two hours from Hoshiarpur to Ropar in Punjab, I noticed more than two dozen VIP cars crossing me. Around a half dozen of these cars were belonging to ministers and they have a full security cover. In India, it is common to see state and center minister moving in convoy of many vehicles each carrying four to six security personals. Today, I feel that India is slowly becoming a nation where it is much easier to become rich than to speak freely. India is growing fast and we are seeing newer opportunities to become rich.
